Updated News On Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. And ABC

After Joss Whedon signed that exclusive deal with Marvel Studios it hasn’t took long for good things to begin to come out of that deal.  Deadline has reported that ABC has greenlit the series S.H.I.E.L.D. that will focus on the top secret defense organization from the Marvel cinematic universe, most recently, The Avengers.

Whedon will write the pilot with his brother Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen ( Dollhouse and Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog). They will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers plus Whedon may also direct the pilot.

Variety has also reported that Whedon said not to call the series a spinoff. He also said the series will be autonomous to The Avengers sequel that he’s writing and directing.

Variety‘s Cynthia Littleton tweeted this;

“[Joss] reserves right to pepper in bits here and there. His bro Jed and Maurissa T. will be showrunners, he’ll just show up every now and then ‘and take credit for everything.”
