Hey gang! I just received the May Sci-fi Block and I wanted to share my thoughts and some pics with all of you. First of all, what is Sci-fi Block? This is a monthly subscription service from Nerd Block that comes in a cool box full of sci-fi themed merchandise. Each box contains 5-6 items. May’s Sci-fi Block includes items from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek, Futurama, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and more!
Witness the unboxing!
The Sci-fi Block also includes the lobby cards that show you everything that you’ll be getting. The card includes an image and description of each item inside the box. There’s also a teaser card for June that will include Independence Day, Aliens and Battlestar Galactica items. Subscribers will also be getting their very own phone case so be sure you follow the directions so you’ll get the one that fits your phone! It’s gonna be hard to beat my OtterBox.
Behold the goodies!
First up is Ray Bradbury‘s classic masterpiece Fahrenheit 451 that is celebrating its 60th anniversary. This is a $15.99 value.
Up next is this Star Trek ReAction Figure from Funko. The iconic Spock now has his own 3.34 inch fully poseable ReAction Figure. For some strange reason the figure wasn’t sealed at all so I had to add a little glue to seal the package back up. This is a $8.00 value.
Next up is a May Sci-fi Block exclusive item. We love BB-8 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and now the little droid has his very own bumper sticker. I’m guessing this would be a $2.00 value.
Check out this Futurama print. I’ve always been a big fan of this sci-fi animated series and will definitely be putting this work of art in a frame. Approx a $5.00 value. Like what you see so far? Subscribe to Sci-fi Block today!
As the lifelong Star Wars fan that I am, I freaking love this Chewbacca can koozie and guess what, I’m putting good use to it right now. Just check out my Instagram and follow along while you’re over there so you can keep up with my mail call reveals. This is $12.99 over at ThinkGeek.
Next up is this Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order Stormtrooper Wacky Wobbler. There were four different characters available (Rey, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and Stormtrooper) and unfortunately I already had this little guy so I’m not going to open it. Don’t worry, I know what to do with it! Approx a $8.00 value.
Life! May’s Sci-fi Block included this FANtastic Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy t-shirt that features everybody’s favorite “positive thinking” robot Marvin, voiced by the late and iconic Alan Rickman. The black t-shirt is thick cotton Gildan and the screen printing and art looks really good up close. These shirts would probably cost between $15.00-$25.00 somewhere else (like the mall or Hot Topic) so this is a really good deal. When you subscribe, you let Sci-fi Block know what size shirt you wear so it’s not like you’ll be getting something you can’t use.
The May Sci-fi Block had several really cool items but it was unfortunate that I had already received the Wacky Wobbler from another Sub Box service so I’ll be giving this one away or making a trade so be on the lookout soon. A monthly Sci-fi Block subscription only costs $19.99. The shipping rates are as follows: ($8.75 to Canada, $9.50 to the U.S. and $12.50 Worldwide). So, for just under $30.00 (shipping included), there’s around $67.00-$77.00 of merchandise inside this month’s box. Bottom line is, Sci-fi Block still comes highly recommended. This May Sci-fi Block has truly been Geek Tested and Nerd Approved. Subscribe to Sci-fi Block today!
