SCI-FI BLOCK Review: April 2016

Hey gang! I just received the April Sci-fi Block and I wanted to share my thoughts and some pics with all of you. First of all, what is Sci-fi Block? This is a monthly subscription service from Nerd Block that comes in a cool box full of sci-fi themed merchandise. Each box contains 5-6 items. April’s Sci-fi Block includes items from E.T., Mad Max, Firefly, Doctor Who, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and more!

Witness the unboxing!

The Sci-fi Block also includes the lobby cards that show you everything that you’ll be getting. The card includes an image and description of each item inside the box. There’s also a teaser card for May that will include Star Wars, Futurama, Ray Bradbury and Star Trek items.

Behold the goodies!

First up is neat little ET: Phone Home magnet that is also a Sci-fi Block exclusive in April. Remember the Speak & Spell from the movie?! This already has a home on my fridge! I’m guessing this would a $5.00 value. Maybe?

Here’s a Nerd Block encore from last year. This Mad Max: Fury Road #1 from Vertigo is a bonus item this month. This is an exclusive comic book with cover art by Jim Lee. This is a $5.00 value.

Up next is this Firefly ReAction Figure from Funko. There were three different figures offered to subscribers and I got Kaylee Frye, the cute mechanic on Serenity. Actress Jewel Staite has now been immortalized with her own 3.34 inch fully poseable ReAction Figure. This is a $8.00 value.

Okay, I really dig this Star Wars: The Force Awakens projector pen from InkWorks. The design on the pen features some First Order Stormtroopers and it writes great and easily projects a Stormtrooper helmet by pressing the button on the side of the pen. Approx a $6.00 value.

Check out these cool Star Wars ankle socks! The First Order is representing the Dark Side with these Stormtrooper, Flametrooper and logo socks. These are size 10-13 so they’re just right for me. Some subscribers got completely different designs. This 5-pack is approx a $10.00 value. Like what you see so far? Subscribe to Sci-fi Block today!

Next up is this awesome Doctor Who Wacky Wobbler. There were two available this month for subscribers, the Tenth Doctor and the Eleventh Doctor. The BBC also just announced the Doctor’s new companion for the upcoming season. The figure is approx a $12.00.

April’s Sci-fi Block included this Sci-fi Spaceships Silhouettes t-shirt. This is kind of an old design so I’m a little disappointed. Can you name all the ships and sci-fi franchise they belong to? The black t-shirt is thick cotton Gildan and the screen printing and art looks really good up close. These shirts would probably cost between $15.00-$25.00 somewhere else (like the mall or Hot Topic) so this is a really good deal. When you subscribe, you let Sci-fi Block know what size shirt you wear so it’s not like you’ll be getting something you can’t use.

The April Sci-fi Block had a few cool items but it definitely wasn’t my favorite box since Sci-fi Block launched. A monthly Sci-fi Block subscription only costs $19.99. The shipping rates are as follows: ($8.75 to Canada, $9.50 to the U.S. and $12.50 Worldwide). So, for just under $30.00 (shipping included), there’s around $61.00-$71.00 of merchandise inside this month’s box. Bottom line is, Sci-fi Block still comes highly recommended. This April Sci-fi Block has truly been Geek Tested and Nerd Approved. Subscribe to Sci-fi Block today!
