Variety has reported that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on for CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man. The film is said to launch the elements of the hit comic book crossover event, “Civil War” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s also a new “Civil War” comic book is on the way next summer. Coincidence? I think not!

If you remember, just a few months ago Marvel Studios super producer Kevin Feige hinted that he had been sitting on the title and story idea for this for like a decade, or something like that. Needless to say, this must be huge!

I’m guessing here but it looks like the aftermath of Avengers: Age of Ultron could leave the team divided in some form or fashion. We’ve already heard rumblings that the third Avengers movie will not return all of the original heroes. Now this “Civil War” story arc is being incorporated into the MCU that could begin in Captain America 3 and continue into Iron Man 4 which RDJ has already committed to. Looks like our heroes aren’t going to be getting along to well so what big threat could be coming in for them to reunite against? Hello Thanos!

Anthony and Joe Russo who return to direct, have also hinted at something BIG for the third outing for Chris Evans and Captain America that is set to blast into theaters on May 6, 2016.
