Movie Review: BRAWLER (Blu-ray+DVD Combo Pack)

BRAWLER is an action movie that puts brother against brother and is based on true events. Why does a movie with so much promise fail in so many ways?

The movie is written and directed by Chris Sivertson and follows two brothers (Nathan Grubbs and Marc Senter) who are both into MMA. The older brother is the responsible one with the younger being reckless, foolish and is the kind of person trouble always finds. you know the kind. There’s also betrayal that plays a part in this story that eventually puts these two brothers in the ring against each other.

By the way, one of the few things I liked about this movie is that all of the underground fighting (what little there is) that is run by the local mob takes place on a New Orleans riverboat. That’s it though! The acting is pretty weak and the story is just messy! This could have been as good as some older classics like Blood Sport or Kickboxer but it’s just  all over the place and the ending made me want to poke my eyes out and get my lost time back! Yes, the ending just drops off like a freaking bad habit, almost like they just ran out of film or possibly money. Who knows, but it sucked!

Bottom line is, Brawler just isn’t that good of a movie and is a complete mess. Watch this one at your own rick,  it released on September 18th.
