Movie Review: ‘BLADE RUNNER’ 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4-Disc (Blu-ray+DVD Combo Pack & UV)

I think Blade Runner holds the record for being the movie with the most versions released but this new BLADE RUNNER 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4-Disc Set is the cream of the crop because every version/cut of the film is included plus lots more! Warner Brothers went all out for this special release!

There’s a lot in this set that includes the Final Cut on Blu-ray, DVD and a UV copy of the feature. There’s also an all new concept spinner car for your collection and it’s really detailed and movie accurate!  There’s an action Lenticular that showcases one of the movies more memorable scenes and a 72 page art production book with never-before-seen sketches from the director, poster art and photos from the set. Even the box is cool and it includes a window so you can see that cool little spinner car.

Director Ridley Scott‘s Blade Runner hit theaters way back in 1982 and wasn’t a huge success. The movie, to me, was way before its time and has earn moviegoers respect over the years. The setting is cool, dark and gritty and the SFX are as good as today’s sci-fi releases! Did I mention the amazing cast?  Harrison Ford, Rutger Haur, Daryl Hannah, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy and many more familiar faces.

Blade Runner is set in  2019, humans have genetically engineered Replicants, which are essentially humans who are designed for labor and entertainment purposes. They are illegal on earth, and if they make it to our planet they are to be hunted down and killed.

Rick Deckard is a blade runner, or a hunter of replicants. A group of replicants make it to Los Angeles to seek out a way to extend their life span. Replicants have a built in 4 year life span, and this group is at the end. Although he hunts them to the end, the replicants end up teaching the detached Deckard what it really means to be human.

Bottom line is, this Blade Runner 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition (4-Disc Blu-ray / DVD +Book +UltraViolet Digital Copy Combo Pack) comes highly recommended and is a must have for fans of this cult classic movie. This release is priced to own too so pick it up and put it in someone’s stocking for Christmas!
