DVD Review: Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production Season 1 Part 1

wabbit s1

Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production Season 1 Part 1 features the voice talents of Jeff Bergman, Maurice LaMarche, Dee Bradley Baker, JP Karliak and Matthew Mercer. The animated series is produced by Gary Hartle and Sam Register.

This all-new animated series continues to follow Bug Bunny on his latest adventures that takes him all around the globe in wild and crazy adventures. Joining the fan favorite carrot-crunching rabbit in his latest escapades are classic characters like Wile E. Coyote, Yosemite Sam and the Tasmanian Devil, as well as new characters Squeaks the squirrel and Bigfoot who are introduced in this first season of animated fun and frolics. Both new characters are fun in their own way with Squeaks being more on the quiet and likable side while the funny looking Bigfoot is more loud and annoying. Squeaks is easily my new favorite of the two.

I had a blast watching all 26-episodes and really enjoyed this all-new animated series that puts Bugs Bunny and his zany friends in present day situations. Wabbit truly is classic Looney Tunes with an updated look and engaging new characters. Bugs and the gang get into everything from normal everyday life predicaments at home to wild and crazy adventures on the safari and everything you can think of in between.

All of the stories were so much fun to follow where they put Bugs and his friends in hilarious and sometimes awkward predicaments. Most of the stories were completely innocent but I did notice a few agendas added in but nothing too serious, thank goodness. Anyway, I was completely impressed with the animation style for this newest animated series featuring Bugs Bunny because it stays as close to the classic look than anything we’ve gotten in a really long time. The voice cast also did a fantastic job with these beloved characters.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and the back includes series details and some images. The first disc features Bugs Bunny and the second disc features Squeaks the squirrel. Inserting each disc, the menu screens were simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I had no issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production Season 1 Part 1 ended up being a lot of fun to watch and it’s definitely something that took me back to my childhood. I’m really looking forward to more new Looney Tunes adventures with this latest incarnation. Bugs Bunny is truly one of the world’s most popular cartoon characters and it’s good that the Loony Tunes gang are still going strong after all these years. They’ve had a few bumps in the road along the way but this new animated series stays true to the classic style for the most part but still gives the characters a fresh and contemporary look for a whole new generation to enjoy. This is one for the little kiddos as well as the big kiddos! This is also programming that the entire family can sit down and watch together and enjoy. This DVD releases on April 26th and is definitely worth checking out.
