DVD Review: The Legend of Chupacabras

Uncover the truth behind one of the most popular Latin American folktales when the fun animated adventure, The Legend of Chupacabras, also known in its original Spanish-language version, La Leyenda del Chupacabras. A thrilling adventure unfolds when a group of magical friends embark on a journey to discover what lies beyond the mysteries of the mythical Chupacabra. Will the secrets of the fabled monster be revealed in this family-friendly exploration?

In the scary-fun tradition of Scooby Doo and Goosebumps comes this animated adventure about a heroic boy and some magical friends uncovering the mystery of a legendary monster.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and  the back includes movie details and some images. The DVD disc has a flat grey finish with no artwork. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I liked the animation style that got colorful and even really dark at times. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, The Legend of Chupacabras (La Leyenda del Chupacabras) was an okay watch that’s definitely geared towards a much younger audience. Evidentally these characters have had other animated adventures because there’s no introduction for some of them so I was lost at times. I enjoyed most of the characters but there was one in particular who was really annoying. The message keeps it pretty simple and that’s sometimes common enemies can unite for a greater good. There’s also the mystical creatures that everyone is afraid of throughout the watch but when they finally reveal themselves, they show that there’s really no reason at all for the humans to be afraid of them. The animated adventures releases on DVD on March 7th and would make a fun watch for the kiddos during Halloween.
