DVD Review: The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes features the voice talents of Don Messick as Scooby-Doo, Casey Kasem as Shaggy Rogers, Frank Welker as Fred Jones, Nicole Jaffe as Velma Dinkley and Heather North as Daphne Blake. The classic animated series aired on CBS from 1972 to 1973.

The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes features eight never-before released episodes that are now available together on DVD for the first time.  Fans of Scooby-Doo can’t get enough of the Mystery Inc. Gang teaming up with stellar celebrity guest stars who help them solve the most intriguing cases. In The Best of the Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes, the gang joins forces with heartthrob Davy Jones as well as Josie and the Pussycats. The magical duo of Jeannie and Babu help rescue the gang in an ancient pyramid. Help Scooby-Doo search high and low for all the fun and hijinks with these eight lost episodes.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and the back includes details, more artwork and specs. Each disc features some etched artwork and logo. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any problems with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes includes eight episodes that are also featured in The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection. The thing about this set is if you’re just curious about these classic episodes and don’t want to spend too much then this is the way to go to start things off. It’ll make a great starter set. All of the stories are good cheesy fun and I love this classic animation style from back in the day when it was all hand-drawn. Each episode features a celebrity guest star that helps Scooby and the gang solve a mystery with lots of humor to go along with it. It’s the same basic formula for each and every episode but it works and it’s good ol’ family friendly entertainment. Warner Bros. continues to celebrate Scooby-Doo’s 50th anniversary with the release of The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes that’s now available on a 2-disc DVD set.
