DVD Review: ‘TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES’ The Complete Final Season

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES’ Season 10: The Complete Final Season puts our heroes in a half shell (past and present)Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo against the evil Lord Dregg and his minions for an epic and kind of weird final showdown.

First of all, Dregg is no Shredder and thankfully the Shred man does appear along with Krang but they take a backseat to this guy and his weirdo minions who act as strange and goofy as they look, they’re no Bebop and Rocksteady, that’s for sure! We’re also introduced to new allies that really are kind of lame, they just don’t fit in with this universe that so many of us TMNT fans love! It’s that old saying, if it aint broke, don’t fix it!

So, the guys go up against Dregg and his army to save the Earth. Enter Dimension X thanks to a giant portal that opens up where things get even weirder. This event begins to drain the turtles mutant powers but eventually the guys team up with their past selves to save the day. Yeah, this season is as weird as what I just typed out!

The Final Season only included 8 episodes which makes me wonder if it was actually cancelled, I just can’t remember.  The animation stayed in tact over the years and voice acting talents were all still there, it was just the writing that got weak over the years, especially in this final season. Hey, I’m as big of a fan of  TMNT as the next person but this series went downhill in this final season! Even the famous theme got an unwelcome makeover that I completely hated!  The DVD does come in a cool case with a nice slip sleeve with coo artwork so that’s a plus and there are 2 bonus episodes, (you’ll see below)

Bottom line is, as much as I loved this awesome animated series by the time it got to the tenth season it had gotten pretty stale with some weird storytelling and plots and these weird new characters. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 10: The Complete Final Season DVD releases on Tuesday, August 14th.
