tales of poe dvd

TALES OF POE was co-directed by Bart Mastronardi and Alan Rowe Kelly and combines the classic horror prose with the star power of legendary scream queens Adrienne KingCaroline Williams, Amy Steel, Debbie Rochon and Lesleh Donaldson.

Based on the timeless works of Edgar Allan Poe, three of the renowned author’s most popular stories (The Tell Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, and Dreams) receive unique retellings by directors Bart Mastronardi & Alan Rowe Kelly. Offering a compelling and shocking journey into madness and the macabre, Tales of Poe features some of the most beloved final girls in horror movie history in new and exciting roles.

Okay, I had an absolute blast watching Tales of Poe! I had my personal favorite but each segment offered up its own unique and terrifying adaptation of Poe’s classic work and it was all really masterfully conceived. The standout cinematography for this horror anthology was absolutely amazing and each segment was beautifully shot. The camera was able to capture the beauty that this movie possesses as well as its horror. All of the acting was top notch and the characters they all delivered were interesting and fun to follow. You can’t have a horror movie like this without some special effects and all of it was extremely well done. The makeup effects looked fantastic plus there was lots of blood and gore to go along with it.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and the back includes movie details, some images and list of special features. The DVD disc also features matching artwork plus there’s a mini poster that features some alternate artwork inside. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, I had known about Tales of Poe for quite a while, as a matter of fact I’ve known about it for a few years now and have patiently waited for the final product to arrive, and arrived it has! This is one of those cases where it was well worth the wait because Bart Mastronardi and Alan Rowe Kelly, with their cast and crew, have delivered an entertaining horror anthology that’s a finely tuned machine and well orchestrated – a rarity for real indie film. This is impressive indie filmmaking right here! This horror anthology is an indie gem that Edgar Allan Poe himself would be extremely proud of. Tales of Poe is now available on DVD and is definitely worth checking out.
