DVD Review: SNIPER: GHOST SHOOTER

sniper dvd

SNIPER: GHOST SHOOTER was directed by Don Michael Paul and returns Chad Michael Collins, Billy Zane and Dennis Haysbert with Nick Gomez, Stephanie Vogt and Enoch Frost also starring.

Elite snipers Brandon Beckett (Chad Michael Collins) and Richard Miller (Billy Zane) are fighting extremists in the Middle East when Colonel (Dennis Haysbert) gives them a new mission: to protect a gas pipeline stretching from the Republic of Georgia to Western Europe from terrorists eager to make a political statement. But when skirmishes with the enemy lead to U.S. snipers being killed by a ghost shooter who locks into their exact location, a security breach is suspected. Fingers are pointed and battle lines are drawn, all leading up to an explosive climax.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and the back includes movie details and some images. The generic disc features the movie logo with no artwork. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good.

Bottom line is, Sniper: Ghost Shooter ended up being a pretty cool movie loaded with the non-stop military action. I remember watching the first Sniper movie back in the early 90’s as a kid and now it has spawned this full blown military franchise that continues the legacy of Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) whose son Brandon is now taking charge against deadly new enemies. This fourth chapter reteams director Don Michael Paul with Collins, Haysbert and Zane who are now the heart and soul of this franchise. The story was interesting and all of the action scenes were intense. Beckett has to overcome some personal obstacles before he can help his team take out this new threat. The international locations spanned from the desert heat to the snowy mountains. There’s also some impressive high-tech weaponry that are showed off. This DVD released on August 2nd and if you’re a fan of those action-packed military/war movies from the late 80’s and early 90’s, be sure you check this one out.
