DVD Review: ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: IN CONCERT

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: IN CONCERT features 11 jam-packed discs that includes nearly 30 hours of live performances from epic Hall of Fame ceremonies from 2010-2017. The set includes over 160 amazing performances, collaborations and induction speeches from such iconic inductees as Simon & Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, U2, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, John Fogerty, Rush, Cat Stevens, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Journey, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, Ringo Starr, Yes, Alice Cooper, Heart, Randy Newman, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more.

An unparalleled rock ‘n’ roll experience and a must-own for every music fan, this ultimate DVD set features nearly 30 hours of mind-blowing performances and collaborative jam sessions that have made Rock Hall concerts legendary, covering eight memorable induction ceremonies and 160 live performances from such rock giants as Alice Cooper, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Electric Light Orchestra,, Heart, James Taylor, Journey, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Ringo Starr, Simon and Garfunkel, Sting, U2, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons, Metallica, and many more.

Each year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors rock music’s pioneering figures during a prestigious, black-tie ceremony. As the Hall of Fame enters its third decade, it’s these extraordinary induction ceremonies — featuring the biggest names in classic rock from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s – that have become nearly as epic as the artists they celebrate.

The set is comprised of three separate collections: ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME IN CONCERT – ENCORE (2010-2013), ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME IN CONCERT (2014-2017) and the complete 25TH ANNIVERSARY ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME CONCERTS from 2009. The packaging comes with a thin slipcase that houses three plastic keepcases. The front of the slipcase and each inner keepcase features its own indivual artwork and the back features details and specs. Inside are 11 color coded DVDs and booklets with liner notes for each individual set. Inserting each disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, as an avid music lover and fan of so many of these musical acts, I had a blast checking out this amazing box set. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: In Concert includes hours of entertaining inductions, unforgettable acceptance speeches, emotional reunions and epic performances. The standouts to me were watching Ringo Star and Paul McCartney on stage together, five of the original members of Chicago performing on stage for the first time in 25 years, Ozzy Osbourne singing with Metallica, there’s Dave Grohl sitting behind the drums when Nirvana gets inducted, Cheap Trick’s (aka one of my favorite rock groups ever) acceptance and performance, Joan Jett taking the stage, and last but not least, Steve Perry joining his former bandmates in Journey. Every single moment is a standout for music lovers so these here are simply what stood out to me personally – because there’s so much more included in this epic set. Time Life has delivered the biggest and best video music collection that is a must have for fans of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and these musical acts. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: In Concert is now available on a 11-disc DVD set.
