RESURRECTION COUNTY took me by surprise and is one of the better horror films I’ve seen lately!  This is one that you can watch more than once and totally enjoy it every time, an instant classic.

The movie follows two couples who go camping and yes, we’ve seen so many of these camping gone wrong movies but this one is at least a little different and fresh. Anyway, they set up accidentally on private property outside of the small town Enoch and everything begins to go downhill fast when they’re warned by a few backwoods locals not to trespass.  Guns are fired, somebody dies, all hell breaks lose, then more people start to die.

Our campers are split up and are running for their lives. As each one gets caught, they’re also tortured in unique, gritty and gory ways. There’s no holding back as the locals chase down, capture and torture these people and they show no remorse at all.  We get lots of blood, bullets flying in the air, kicking and bullying and even rusty nails with this camping trip gone wrong.  Revenge is attempted as innocents brutally die but only “certain” people come out on top in this story. As the movie plays out and reveals a few secrets about these locals, we also learn that this isn’t the first time something like this has gone down nor will it be the last. The ending is the beginning, get it?

Director Matt Zettell captures everything a horror fan looks for in a movie, even if this is more of a thriller/horror hybrid. The camera and the great acting make this movie what it is!  The main players, Dayton Knoll, Adam Huss, Kathryn Michelle, Robert Miano and Russ Blackwell all pull off great and totally believable performances. We get a few very brutal performances and shocking moments as well that can contend with the best of them, including I Spit On Your Grave, Wrong Turn or even A Texas Chainsaw Massacre and to me these are all classics and this one fits in right there with them!

Bottom line is if you’re looking for a new thriller/horror film then you have to watch Resurrection County! I highly recommend this future classic to everyone out there!  Resurrection County is available on DVD, VOD and Digital Download on March 20th.
