DVD Review: PRISONER X

PRISONER X is based on the novella “Truth” by Robert Reed and was written and directed by Gaurav Seth. The film stars Michelle Nolden, Romano Orzari, Damon Runyan and Julian Richings

In PRISONER X, as the world rages in war and civil strife, CIA agent Carmen Reese (Nolden) arrives at a secret underground prison to interrogate a captured terrorist with links to recent attacks on American soil. But the prisoner (Orzari) is more than he appears – he has arrived from the future with ninety-eight other time travelers who are still at large and wreaking havoc across the globe. Now it’s a race against the clock as Carmen and the prisoner engage in a battle of wills to see whose version of the future will triumph.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see up top and the back includes movie details, some images and list of special features. The DVD disc also features some matching artwork. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Prisoner X is a little different from the time traveling movies that we usually get because it mixes the time traveling element with today’s headlines. It depends less on special effects and more on the story and characters. Without getting too deep into that part of it let’s just say that a certain terrorist organization is mentioned as well as our great nation. It’s nothing offensive or anything like that, it simply uses common sense and plays good versus bad. Anyway, I thought the concept was original and all of the acting was really good which means the characters in this movie were pretty interesting. It’s a slow burn at times but the movie is still easy enough to sit through. It’s not a great movie but it’s good enough for a one time watch. This time traveling sci-fi thriller arrives on DVD on June 6th.
