DVD Review: Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel: The Complete Season

Power Rangers Ninja Steel is based on the Japanese Super Sentai series Shuriken Sentai Ninninger and stars William Shewfelt as Brody Romero/the Red Ninja Steel Ranger, Nico Greetham as Calvin Maxwell/the Yellow Ninja Steel Ranger, Zoe Robins as Hayley Foster/the White Ninja Steel Ranger, Peter Sudarso as Preston Tien/the Blue Ninja Steel Ranger, Chrysti Anne as Sarah Thompson/the Pink Ninja Steel Ranger, and Jordi Webber as Aiden Romero/Levi Weston/the Gold Ninja Steel Ranger.

Madame Odius is still alive and more determined than ever to steal the Ninja Nexus Prism for her nefarious purposes! Now it’s up to the Rangers, with some unexpected help from new friends, to use the power of teamwork to defeat Odius and save the world!

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel picks up after the team defeats Galvanax where Madame Odius rises to power. She’s determined to track down the Ninja Nexus Prism that finds its way back to the team because their work isn’t done just yet. Summer Cove once again becomes the target of an alien attack but standing in the way are the Super Ninja Steel Rangers that get all super-duper this time around because the Ninja Nexus Prism has even more powers to give the team. Madame Odius and her alien goons also resurrect the sinister game show, Galaxy Warriors. I just thought I’d throw that in there even.

The Super Ninja Steel Rangers fight off each monstrous alien when they arrive and this is where we get to see even more tricked out zords. There’s also characters like the Galactic Rangers, three mysterious cloaked figures and the surprise appearances from some Legendary Rangers that show up this season. Classic Rangers from Time Force, RPM, Dino Charge and Mighty Morphin all arrive from their own timelines and dimensions to help the Super Ninja Steel Rangers battle it out with Madame Odius. It’s always good to see Jason David Frank return as Tommy Oliver that’s easily the most popular character in the 25 years this series has been airing. In the end, the team does defeat their enemy and when their mission is completed all of their powers are returned to the Ninja Nexus Prism and it leaves Summer Cove for its next destination.

The packaging comes with a slipcover/o-card. The front features the artwork you see at the top of the page and the back includes series details, more artwork, episode listing and specs. Each disc is grey and features the series logo. Inserting each disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel: The Complete Season follows the same formula like many of the previous seasons and returns the main cast for another season of bigger and badder monsters and zords. I have to say it was awesome seeing so many classic Power Rangers show up to help out the Ninja Steel team. This season also continues celebrating the 25th anniversary of this action fantasy series that so many of us grew up on. This season also saw the return of some familiar monsters that joined Madame Odius in her fight against the Power Rangers. I always get a kick out of these episodes because of the crazy looking monsters that show up as well as the zords that keep getting larger with more tricked out accessories that the team uses to defeat their enemy. There’s usually some kind of story or lesson to be learned with each episode as well as some cheesy martial arts battles between the heroes and the villains. Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel: The Complete Season will be available on a 3-disc DVD set on February 5th and is priced to own.
