DVD Review: Condorito: The Movie

Condorito: The Movie is based on the beloved Chilean comic strip created by cartoonist René Ríos. The movie was directed by Alex Orrelle and Eduardo Schuldt and features the voice talents of Omar Chaparro, Jessica Cediel, Coco Legrand and Cristián de la Fuente

From the studio behind the most successful Hispanic-American films ever in the U.S. and worldwide, Condorito embarks on a hilarious adventure to save the planet and his loved ones from an evil alien. The beloved comic strip is now a laugh-filled movie adventure for the whole family. Condorito, a fun-loving, featherbrained condor, is finally ready to propose to his girlfriend, Yayita. But before Condorito pops the question, Yayita’s mother, Tremebunda, is abducted by evil aliens. Now, Condorito and his nephew, Chicky, must rocket into space on a hilarious quest to rescue Tremebunda and save planet Earth.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see at the top of the page and the back includes some images, movie details and specs. The DVD disc is flat grey and only features the movie logo. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition disc were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Condorito: The Movie follows a charismatic soccor playing condor that embarks on a crazy out of this world adventure to save the Earth from an alien invasion and to impress his human girlfriend. His nephew gets to tags along for the ride and the two get into all kinds of crazy predicaments that lead them to the next exciting stop where the accidental heroes ultimately save the day and Condorito gets the girl. I was really curious about this movie going in because of its Pixar-like animation style and it ended up being a fun watch that the younger audience will really enjoy. The movie is full of goofy jokes, quirky characters plus it sends a good message to its audience. It’s weird because of the human-animal interactions but if you can get passed that it’s okay for a one time watch. Condorito: The Movie was a big splash in Latin America and it’s now available on DVD in the U.S.
