DVD Review: BE COOL, SCOOBY-DOO! SEASON 1 PART 2

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

BE COOL, SCOOBY-DOO! SEASON 1 PART 2 features the longtime Scooby-Doo voice cast of Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo / Fred Jones, Grey Griffin as Daphne Blake, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers and Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkely.

In Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Season 1 Part 2, high school ends and summer vacation begins for the Scooby-Doo gang. Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, Fred and Scooby-Doo set out on a road trip in search of fun and adventure. Along the way, they share plenty of laughs and good times but that’s not all! Scooby-Doo and his pals tackle some of the biggest and most baffling mysteries they’ve ever come across. As their excursion continues, the Mystery Inc. gang stop at several spooky destinations. The teens visit an old prison known as “The Vault,” which is haunted by the ghost of a man who once tried to escape from its confines. They board a flight on Air Gigantica, a plane that’s tormented by a gremlin. The hijinks continue in the bayous of New Orleans, where the gang encounters a swamp monster. Next on the route is a visit to a ski resort where Scooby-Doo and his pals confront a snow monster. These and several other escapades are featured on this fun-filled release. It’s a memorable journey the Mystery Inc. gang won’t soon forget and fans won’t want to miss!

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Season 1 Part 2 continues the animated adventures of Mystery, Inc. as they travel around solving mysterious new cases and spoiling sinster plots. Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Scooby-Doo come across some new monsters but in the end there’s always a person behind the mask who has some kind of sinister agenda driving them to do these things. This season they go up againsst the likes of a pterodactyl, scarecrows, mutants, ghosts, giants, snow monsters and more. At the end of the day, the “meddling kids” always solves their case while having a little fun do it.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see at the top of the page and the back includes season details, more artwork and specs. Each disc also features its own idiividual artwork that includes some of the characters from the series. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this standard-definition release were really good. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Season 1 Part 2 is a fun continuation for this fan-favorite animated franchise that’s still going strong after decades of entertaining kids of all ages. The stories are still fresh and the voice cast does a really good job with these wonderful characters. There’s just the right amount of spooky mixed with lots of cheesy humor in each episode plus we still get those crazy musical chase scenes. There’s also Shaggy and Scooby’s endless appetite that goes along with each new adventure. Even the Mystery Machine has gotten some high-tech upgrades. The only small gripe I have is the animation style because I don’t know what’s up with the skinny legs on the male characters, but besides that I enjoyed all of these 22-minute episodes. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Season 1 Part 2 will be available on DVD on January 16th and makes a fun watch for the kiddos.
