Blu-ray Review: ‘TRANSFORMERS PRIME’ Season 2

First of all, The Hub’s TRANSFORMERS PRIME is hands down my favorite animated series from this long running franchise. Season Two picks right up after the epic battle with Unicron from Season One and then it takes off in a new direction with new obstacles, battles and robot introductions!

Optimus slowly regains his memory and returns to the Autobots to do more battling with Megatron and his growing army plus there’s the sleezy Starscream always lurking around to see how he can get ahead and who he can step on doing so (hey, I know some people like that). Jack, Miko, Raf and Special Agent Fowler also return in season two to help out team Prime and by the end of the season they are playing in some major, heavy duty roles, life or death type. Without spoiling the ending all I can say is season two leaves you with another major, dark cliff hanger to set up season three that will take off in another new direction. We’ll be seeing these Transformers in some situations and scenery that has never been shown before and we get the teaser with the finale. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are the dream team behind this series but it’s the writing that is spectacular. Each episode is so well written for these beloved characters voiced by Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Steve Blum, Jeffrey Combs, Tania Gunadi, Josh Keaton, Ernie Hudson, Tony Todd and more. This voice cast lists like a major motion picture!

The heartbeat of Transformers Prime to me is the animation. The CGI is so good and detailed I’d put it up against some blockbuster movies. The colors, lighting and action scenes are brilliantly done in all 26 episodes of  this second season 4-disc set. Really nice!

Bottom line is, the Transformers Prime: Season Two [Blu-ray] was an awesome watch! Hardcore fans are going to enjoy this for hours and it’s something they can watch over and over again! This Blu-ray comes highly recommended for kids of all ages (including the kids who refuse to grow up), it releases on November 27th and if you’re looking for it on DVD, it releases on November 20th.
