Blu-ray Review: HALLOWEEN 4 The Return Of Michael Myers

HALLOWEEN 4 returns us to Haddonfield almost 10 years after the original Halloween film. This time, Michael Myers finds out he has a niece and sets out to find her and, well you know the rest. Oh and we finally get it on Blu-ray, in High-Def!

Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is once again after the masked killer who is now after Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris), the orphaned daughter of Laurie Strode. We’re introduced to an entire new cast of victims that Michael goes through one by one until the showdown with Loomis and Jamie who has this special psychic bond with her killer uncle. Danielle Harris does such a great job with her character at such a young age. i think a lot of kids that are thrown into a movie like this would have nightmares the rest of their lives! And how can we forget the great Donald Pleasence who always was the heart of these iconic movies and was the other half of Michael Myers if you ask me. Loomis just always knew what Michael had planned and where he’d be, almost to a point it was creepy plus Loomis could also pull that creepy card at times as much as Michael could!

Getting to the Blu-ray, the transfer is great with a crisp and clear picture and almost perfect sound. i like the new artwork on the cover plus the great Mustapha Akkad‘s name has been added to the top and very deservingly so!

Bottom line is, the Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers [Blu-ray] comes highly recommended and it releases on August 28th! Even though some of the earlier promised special features (deleted scenes and alternate scenes) aren’t included for some reason, we still get some good stuff! Anchor Bay did a great job with this fourth entry to the Halloween franchise that gave Michael Myers a much welcomed return to the horror genre!  If there’s a flaw at all on this already nice disc, it’s what’s missing in the special features. This Blu-ray release should still be added to your Halloween collection!
