Blu-ray Review: Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends)

Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) spotlights the American rock band as they recount their experiences before and after the tragic events. The film explores the deep bonds between band co-founders Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (also a member of Queens of the Stone Age), as well as the intense connection the band has always had with its devoted fans, which moved them to return to Paris to perform once again in February 2016.

Directed by Colin Hanks, Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) includes accounts of fans who survived the Bataclan attack, extensive behind-the-scenes footage of the band, and interviews with Bono and The Edge of U2 … and serves as a portrait of resilience in the face of unspeakable horror and a life-affirming coda to the events of November 13.

The front of the packaging features the artwork you see at the top of the page and the back includes doc details, some images and specs. The reverse sleeve features an image from the documentary. The Blu-ray disc also features some artwork that matches the front cover. The picture and sound quality for this high-definition release were crisp and clear. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio.

Bottom line is, Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) was a touching and emotional watch about how this senseless terrorist attack affected this rock band and their fans (the survivors) who went through this tragic experience together and how they all found the courage to rise above the tragedy. The November 13, 2015 terrorist attack in Paris claimed 130 lives around the city – 89 of them at the Eagles of Death Metal’s Bataclan Theatre concert that left the survivors all scarred for life. This documentary focuses on the life-long friendship between Hughes and Homme and how they’ve been there for each other over the years. It’s easy to see that without Homme there’s no Hughes which means there would be no Eagles of Death Metal. This likeable human is so much more than just a best friend to Hughes and the viewer gets to see that first hand during this watch. I know one thing, I wish I had a friend like Josh Homme because this rock star is the epitome of super cool. Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) is the latest to join Shout!
