DEAD RISING: ENDGAME was directed by Pat Williams from a screenplay by Tim Carter and Michael Ferris. The film stars Jesse Matcalfe, Marie Avgeropoulos, Jessica Harmon, Keegan Connor Tracy, Ian Tracey, Victor Webster, Camille Sullivan, Patrick Sabongui, Billy Zane and Dennis Haysbert.

Prepare for a nonstop assault of zombie-slaying action. The action-packed sequel to Dead Rising: Watchtower chronicles the return of Jesse Metcalfe as Chase Carter, an investigative journalist haunted by his past and now hunted by the military. After narrowly escaping a zombie quarantine, Chase—along with a group of dubious allies—slices, hacks and bludgeons his way through the zombie hordes that plague every corner of the abandoned city. As they unravel a government conspiracy, the heroes will have to confront their most gruesome nightmares in order to save millions of innocent lives. Based on the worldwide videogame phenomenon, the film arrives the same day as the highly anticipated Dead Rising 4 video game, marking the 10th anniversary of the hugely popular franchise.

After narrowly escaping a zombie quarantine, Chase (Jesse Metcalfe) can’t shake the guilt of having left a trusted colleague behind. Now, as he heads back into the quarantine to expose the architects of the outbreak, he will uncover a secret more evil than he could have imagined. With mass annihilation looming, Chase—along with a group of dubious allies—slices, hacks and bludgeons his way through the zombie hordes that plague the abandoned city. Our heroes will have to confront their most gruesome nightmares in order to save millions of innocent lives, including their own.

Pat Williams takes over the directing duties for Dead Rising: Endgame and he did a good job continuing the action-packed zombie saga. The sequel wasn’t as good as Dead Rising: Watchtower but it was still an exciting zombie movie that was full of crazy stunts complimented with lots of blood and gore. The special effects all looked fantastic! Jess Metcalfe returns to lead the rebellious charge against this sinister plot and joining him is Marie Avgeropoulos who not only kicks ass but she gives the movie plenty of sex appeal. I’m still not sold on Dennis Haysbert as the villain because he makes such a good guy, but it is what it is. Keegan Connor Tracy makes her return but she just isn’t in the movie long enough, but at least she’s not infected and still alive, right?

The packaging comes with a slipcover. The front features the artwork you see up top and the back includes movie details, some images and list of special features. The Blu-ray disc also features some matching artwork. Inserting the disc, the menu screen was simple and easy to navigate. The picture and sound quality for this high-definition release were crisp and clear. I didn’t have any issues with the video and audio. There’s also a sheet of temporary zombie tattoos included inside.

Bottom line is, DEAD RISING: ENDGAME was an exciting continuation to this action-packed zombie franchise but it wasn’t as good as Dead Rising: Watchtower. The story was fun and all the main characters were interesting. Chase is still on the run and the corrupt military has now started the countdown to bomb the city. It’s a race against time for Chase and his new friends plus he eventually locates and rescues his missing ally where they get out just in time. The sequel returned several characters from the first movie and introduced viewers to several new faces – allies and enemies. The blood and gore factor were still on a high level here but the creepy zombie factor was lacking some. We got that crazy clown in the first movie and there wasn’t one single zombie in the sequel that even came close to being as creepy cool as he was. There’s still plenty of zombies, just not a lot of standouts. There were some unique weapons used in the first movie to fight off the hordes and the sequel features more cool looking handmade weapons that the rebels assemble to take out the ravagers. Dead Rising: Endgame arrives on Blu-ray on December 6th and is worth a watch.
