Bill Murray Will Not Appear In ‘GHOSTBUSTERS 3’

After the long drawn out deal of whether or not Bill Murray would be a part of GHOSTBUSTERS 3, Dan Aykroyd has announced that Murray will not be a part of the movie.

Here’s what Akyroyd said in a recent interview with Metro;

First, he was asked if  Ghostbusters 3 was finally happening?

Yes, we’ve got a brilliant new writer on it and we’ll be passing the torch on to a new generation. We’re working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I’m confident we’ll be in production in the next year.

He was asked about the long drawn out process of trying to get this movie made.

Yes, but now we’ve got the studio on side. We’ve tried a few concepts which weren’t right but now we’ve got a good structure and will make it happen.

Then he was asked the big one, if Bill Murray was doing it?

No, I can tell you he won’t be involved.

How he felt about Murray not being involved?

It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.

Let me tell you something, Murray, along with his ego and golfing game has delayed this movie for years now and I’ll go see it without him and I know a lot of others will too.  The studio would have eventually made another one anyway, most likely one of these doomed remakes we all kind of dread seeing. With this happening at least they’ll get to pass the torch and this is what Aykroyd has been wanting to do anyway.
