Ashanti Records Original Song For Morgan Creek Productions’ DREAM HOUSE

Grammy Award winning, multiplatinum singer/songwriter, Ashanti records original song for Universal Pictures and Morgan Creek Productions’ DREAM HOUSE.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 8, 2011) –Morgan Creek Productions and Written Entertainment announced today that Grammy® Award–winning singer/ songwriter, actress, and author, Ashanti wrote and recorded an original song for Universal Pictures and Morgan Creek’s DREAM HOUSE, opening in theatres September 30.

The song, “Never Too Far Away,” was written and recorded by Ashanti and produced by LT Hutton exclusively for DREAM HOUSE after viewing the film,  a story about a family that unknowingly moves into a home where several murders were committed…only to find themselves the killer’s next target. Although the film is a suspense thriller, there is also an underlying theme of love that Daniel Craig shows for his family, and Ashanti captures this love with her lyrics.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Morgan Creek, and such a talented group of individuals associated with this project. I’ve written all of my own records, songs for other artists, started my own record label, Written Entertainment, and wrote  a book of poetry, so writing songs for film is a natural and exciting step of that evolution”- Ashanti.

ABOUT ASHANTI: The Grammy® Award winners debut album, “Ashanti” landed her in the Guinness Book of World Records as well as receiving 8 Billboard Awards, 2 American Music Awards, multiple Soul Train Awards including ‘Entertainer of the Year’, a Teen Choice Award, and a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, along with many other nominations including an MTV Movie Award nomination and an NAACP Image Award Nomination for her role as Kera in “Coach Carter.” Ashanti is an author of a book of poetry titled, Foolish/Unfoolish: Reflections on Love from Hyperion.  She is currently in the studio recording her newest album to be released at the top of 2012.

ABOUT THE MOVIE: Successful publisher Will Atenton (Daniel Craig) quit a job in New York City to relocate his wife, Libby (Rachel Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town where they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived.  When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from Ann Paterson (Naomi Watts), a neighbor who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will’s dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next.  From Universal Pictures and Morgan Creek Productions, “Dream House” is directed by six-time Academy Award® nominee Jim Sheridan, and produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson, Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger from a screenplay by David Loucka.  “Dream House” releases in theatres September 30, 2011.
